HISTORY CHANNEL'S "MOUNTAIN MEN"

The Ask: To highlight the newest season of Mountain Men and to support the show’s mission to celebrate more traditional ways of living, we were tasked to create real portraits of the cast for key art and capture the painting process. We also directed digital paintings for the broadcast promo to better fit the creative vision for that element while still highlighting the diversity of media that an artist can utilize to create.

Working with fine artists, we had to completely adapt our working process and pipelines, from sketches to final touches. We also had to troubleshoot how to capture the month long progress of the paintings - from different artists studios around the country! Being the main point person for the artists, Director, DP, client, etc. I had a lot of balls in the air but this forced an extreme practice of organization, clear communication, anticipating next steps, and following up every step of the way.

Another amazing aspect of this project was the ability to propose and therefore work with an indigenous, female fine artist. A lot of the show’s subject matter, and inspiration for this creative, stemmed from traditional indigenous ways of life, iconography, etc and it was amazing to be able to highlight work from a member of that community.
